Full & Partial Dentures PDF Print E-mail

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Complete dentures replace all the teeth.

If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your bright smile.

This will benefit your appearance and your health.

Without teerh or dentures of some kind, facial muscles tend to sag, making you look older.

In addition, dentures can aid in speech, eating, and other orther ordinary tasks.

There are several types of complete dentures.

A conventional full denture is made and placed in the patient’s mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and gums have healed. This may take several months.

Another type, called an  immediate complete denture, can be inserted immediately.

We take measurements and make models of the your jaws. With immediate dentures, the denture wearer does not have to be without teeth while the gums heal.

Even if you wear full dentures, you still must take good care of your mouth. Brush your gums, tongue and upper mouth every morning with a soft-bristled brush before you insert your dentures. This will stimulate circulation in your mouth and gums.

A partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position.
